晒出道路琴弦的悠扬;

Qianyuan Poem 25: Moon Bay

(A Beautiful Legend Where Dreams Come True)

Preface

Legend has it that Moon Bay is where the South Sea Granny airs her treasures. She possesses countless jewels, and every year on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, she spreads them across the bay’s sandy shore.

One such year, a little girl wandered off while playing autumn games with friends and lost her way. She stumbled upon Moon Bay’s beach, where she saw a silver-haired woman laboriously arranging stones. The girl stepped forward to help.

The old woman asked, "Do you have dreams, child?"

"Many," replied the girl.

The granny handed her a small stone: "This is a Dreamstone. Whisper your wishes to it, and they’ll bloom into reality."

Half-believing, the girl whispered, "I wish to go home."

In a blink, she stood in her own doorway.

Now Shenzhen has found this Dreamstone,

turning dreams into reality day by day.

The Enchanted Stone of Moon Bay

The full moon on the fifteenth night,

Anchored in the deep blue bay.

Granny spreads stones in pale moonlight,

Bits of silver studding the haloed moon.

A lost girl chased fireflies’ fleeting light,

Met the white-haired granny on the sand:

"Child, could you lend these old hands a hand?

Move these shells of stars with me?"

As waves hummed against the reef’s might,

The granny gifted a glowing seed:

"Take this core where all dreams take flight—

It’ll grow wings for your heart’s need!"

The girl cupped the warm star-core’s gleam,

Whispered to its luminous haze:

"Fireflies, guide me home through night’s stream—"

Whoosh! The sea breeze unlatched the door.

Now Shenzhen cradles this light-beam,

Plants it on Mount Wutong’s cloud-sea:

See! Sprouts are spinning tower cranes,

Branches—bridges’ cable-arms sway.

Each brick climbs skyward as it grows,

Every lamp stares with wide-eyed gaze—

The whole city sunbathes in moon-glow,

Granny’s stones shining brighter each day:

Airing forests of towers that soar,

Roads like zither-strings’ echoing song;

This city’s one great Dreamstone core—

Plant the moon, reap a river of stars, scalding and bright!
